Hiring recovery meets AI placement upside

01 Running thesis

A recovery with a new AI leg

Kanzhun is showing signs that China hiring demand is getting better. March 2026 monthly active users topped 72 million, and paid enterprise customers reached 7.1 million for the 12 months ended March 2026. That customer count was up 10.9% year over year.

The recovery is not only coming from small firms. In Q1 2026, companies with 1,000 to less than 10,000 employees had the fastest year-over-year revenue growth among company-size groups. That matters because larger employers tend to have steadier hiring budgets.

The newer upside is AI placement. Kanzhun is moving from selling tools that help employers recruit toward a closed-loop model, where the platform helps complete the hire. That AI-supported closed-loop service brought in about RMB 50 million in Q1 2026 and is the fastest-growing experimental group.

The bear case is still real. China’s economy remains fragile, and if employer demand stalls, the platform can fill jobs faster with less paid help. AI can also hurt the system if fake or low-quality resumes and job descriptions flood the app.

May 2026Q1 2026 strengthened the case. Paid enterprise customers reached 7.1 million, large employers recovered, AI closed-loop services produced about RMB 50 million in revenue, and OfferToday reached about 60,000 daily active users in Hong Kong.
Apr 2026The 2025 Form 20-F confirmed the platform was still growing. Average MAU reached 60.7 million in 2025, paid enterprise customers reached 6.8 million, and key accounts increased to 10,567.
Mar 2026Q4 2025 showed more proof of the small-business base and AI placement push. Enterprises with fewer than 100 employees contributed over 50% of revenue, and closed-loop services had reached hundreds of millions of RMB in 2025 revenue.
Nov 2025Q3 2025 showed better supply and demand balance. Enterprise daily active users grew faster than job seekers for the first time in three years, and paid enterprise customers rose to 6.8 million.
Aug 2025Q2 2025 kept the recovery on track. Paid enterprise customers reached 6.5 million, AI tools moved into daily recruiter use, and blue-collar manufacturing recovered after a short tariff-related slowdown.
May 2025Q1 2025 added proof of blue-collar and lower-tier city growth. Blue-collar users were over 45% of new users, blue-collar revenue share was more than 39%, and placement service customers grew about 30% quarter over quarter.
Apr 2025The 2024 Form 20-F supported the existing view. Paid enterprise customers reached 6.1 million in 2024, while key accounts rose 27.2% to 9,465.
Mar 2025Q4 2024 marked a turn in the job seeker to enterprise user ratio and management said recruitment spending was bottoming. The same update also raised a new risk from AI-generated resumes and job descriptions.
02 Business model

Employers pay when hiring is hard

Kanzhun connects job seekers and employers, mainly through BOSS Zhipin. Job seekers use the app for free job discovery, direct chats, resume delivery, and interview tools. Employers pay for online recruitment services that help them find and talk to candidates faster.

This is a demand-sensitive business. When there are too many job seekers and not enough open roles, employers can fill jobs quickly and may spend less. When hiring gets harder, employers have more reason to pay Kanzhun for better matching and faster contact.

The company is still focused on adding paying employers before pushing much harder on average revenue per paying customer. That lowers near-term pricing pressure, but it also creates a future test: as the paid base matures, Kanzhun will need to raise usage or price without slowing customer growth.

AI can change the model. AI Quick Hiring, recruiter assistants, and hosted placement services could make Kanzhun less like a job board and more like a hiring service paid for results. The open question is whether closed-loop revenue becomes large enough in late 2026 to move total revenue, not only prove the idea.

05 Risk factors

What could break the match

China hiring demand weakens again

High impact · Medium odds

Kanzhun makes money when employers feel pain in hiring. If job seekers are plentiful and roles are scarce, employers can fill jobs faster and may spend less on paid recruiting. This would hurt both paid customer growth and average revenue per paying customer.

We watchWatch paid enterprise customer growth, enterprise daily active user growth versus job seeker growth, and management comments on the job seeker to enterprise user ratio.

AI-generated spam pollutes the platform

High impact · Medium odds

Management has warned that AI-generated resumes and job descriptions could flood the platform. If too much low-quality content enters the system, matching gets worse and real users waste time. That would weaken the data edge that makes the app useful.

We watchWatch comments on fake resumes, fake job posts, content filtering costs, and any fall in match or chat conversion rates.

General AI platforms enter recruiting

Medium impact · Medium odds

Large AI companies could build recruiting assistants that compete with parts of Kanzhun’s service. Kanzhun has special hiring data and live user activity, but broad AI tools may pressure older recruiting products over time. The risk is bigger if employers use outside AI tools instead of paying for Kanzhun add-ons.

We watchWatch new recruiting products from major AI firms and Kanzhun’s paid adoption of AI Quick Hiring and recruiter assistants.

Closed-loop placement stays small

Medium impact · Medium odds

The AI-supported closed-loop service is growing fast, but RMB 50 million in Q1 2026 is still early compared with the core business. If the service does not scale, the AI story may stay more like a feature than a second engine. That would limit upside from a results-based model.

We watchWatch closed-loop placement revenue as a share of total revenue in the second half of 2026.

Paid customer base matures

Medium impact · Medium odds

Kanzhun has grown by adding many paying employers. As the base reaches 7.1 million, the easy gains may slow. The company then needs better pricing, more products per customer, or higher usage to keep growth strong.

We watchWatch average revenue per paying customer, renewal rates, and growth in key accounts.
06 Quick answers

In one breath

What does Kanzhun Limited do?

Kanzhun runs BOSS Zhipin, a China online recruiting platform. It helps job seekers and employers match, chat, and move toward interviews or hires.

How does BZ make money?

Most revenue comes from online recruitment services sold to enterprise customers. In 2025, online recruitment services to enterprise customers were 99.1% of total revenue.

Why is AI important for Kanzhun?

AI helps with recommendations, recruiter communication, interview coaching, and closed-loop placement. The biggest new idea is results-based hiring, where AI helps complete the placement instead of only helping users search.

What is the main risk for BZ stock?
