What do I need to open an account?
To open a Finvest account, you need meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years old or older
- Have a legal U.S. residential address within the 50 states or Puerto Rico
- Have a social security number
- Be a US citizen OR a US resident
- A US resident is someone who holds a Green Card OR has been in the US for at least 31 days during the current calendar year and at least 183 days during the last 3 years
- U.S. visa holders can open a Finvest account as long as you meet the US resident test
- U.S. citizens living abroad can open a Finvest account as long as you have a valid U.S. address
It only takes a few minutes to sign up. We ask you for some information and you are good to go!
How long does it take to open my account?
In most cases, if your information looks good, your account is opened instantly. In some cases, it might take 24-48 hours to review your information and open your account.
How long does it take to transfer funds?
Sometimes, it can take up to 3-5 days for bank account transfers after you initiate a transfer from your bank account into your brokerage account. We initiate your buy or sell order in market hours once funds in your brokerage account is available.
